How to Prepare For Your Kitchen Remodel

You may have been told that a kitchen remodel is a big task, but when you work with Fine Design, we do everything to make it a breeze. We handle it all so you can relax and enjoy the process, scheduling everything from deliveries to contractors to inspections.

So, where should you start?

Research. Sites like Pinterest and Houzz are excellent visual tools, as you browse designs save pictures with elements you might like exhibited in your home.

At your initial consultation, our experienced designer will come to your home to discuss your wants and needs for your new kitchen and measure your space. In the following weeks, the designer will work up an estimate and design for your kitchen and set up a time for you to come into our showroom, review, and make changes to the plan as needed to fit your personal preferences. After our presentation is complete and contracts are signed, we will get you on our calendar and begin ordering materials and scheduling contractors for your project.

Before Your Remodel

Before we begin your remodel we ask that you remove everything from your kitchen, including:

  • Emptying all your cabinets and drawers

  • Removing decorations

  • Clearing off counters

  • Relocate trash cans, pet food, and other items on the floor to another area

This step of the process is a great time to go through your kitchenware and part with items no longer in use. Don't forget to label your boxes, and if you need help with any of this, please let us know, we would be happy to assist you.

We recommend designating an alternative space to act as a temporary kitchen for the duration of your remodel. Utilizing small appliances such as toaster ovens, electric pressure cookers, and crockpots is an excellent option, and using disposable flatware, bowls, and plates helps to cut down on dishes.

We love pets, but it is important to keep them out of the workspace, for safety and quality purposes.

After Your Remodel

When your remodel is complete, a professional cleaner will come out and make your renovated space shine.

When the dust settles it is finally time to move into your new kitchen and unpack. Now is a great time to rethink where you want everything to go, especially if your floor layout has changed with the remodel, for example, the drawer that used to hold your spatulas may now be on the opposite side of the kitchen from your oven.

Decorate your space and bring in personal touches to really make it feel like home.
